As you may have guessed, this website is about geeks who have a garden. Who are these geeks, and why on earth would they want a garden, when you can buy fresh vegetables from Amazon?

Before you ask: yes, she grows oregano, basil, and garlic in her garden. She’s Italian! Duh! Whitney is a librarian who grew up in the frozen north, where people are very friendly, and have funny accents (Wisconsin). During the warm months, she gets very excited about working in the garden, watering plants, harvesting vegetables, and making her husband chase rabbits away. During the cold months, she likes planning out the year’s garden, dreaming up ways to harvest even more vegetables than the year before.

Dan Hiester

No, he isn’t the Daniel Hiester you’ve read about on Wikipedia. Dan is a web designer, who grew up in Orange County, California, where it’s sunny almost all year round. Despite the extra sunlight, he shunned yard work in his childhood, and shocked his parents in 2009 when he announced he was building a raised bed vegetable garden with his wife. He appreciates living in a place with a change of seasons, and his favorite times of year are spring and fall. In the winter months, when the grass stops growing, he likes playing videogames instead of mowing the lawn.
